Look to your Internal Board (IB) for Resolution

Imagine you walk into a board meeting with your executives or a session with a client, and the room looks like this…

It’s not a place that evokes feelings of focus, progress, and creativity, for many.

The disharmony in the environment, impacts the flow of conversation that will influence the direction of your business, and/or that of your client.

Now, pause reading for a moment. Take a breath.

Imagine having a critical conversation with your client, team, or colleague from here…

What would be different for you?

You may have felt a visceral difference between the two environments.

Here’s the thing, many of us work in the first environment, no matter where we are. What I mean by that, our external environment, our office, our property, may be peaceful. It may be a place that evokes ahh and inspiration.

Yet, many of us are still operating from a place inside ourselves that is out of balance. A place that feels tense, and chaotic.

(This will all make more sense in a moment)

I see this a lot with service driven coaches, executives and entrepreneurs. We can get lost in our work. We get lost in the love we have for our clients. It warms our heart to see our clients thrive.

If you are reading this, you likely couldn’t imagine doing another line of work, because this fills you up.

Yet, when you slow down and get honest, something may feel amiss.

You may feel that you are like a boat with three engines, operating on two of them. In some ways you are moving ahead. Things feel stable, enjoyable, and on track.

Other times, it feels like you are sputtering in circles. You sense something is blocking your view, but you are not quite sure what that is.

You may experience exhaustion as you attempt to adapt, control, and move your work into its next level. You are clear there is another level for you, but this one seems more daunting than ever.

You wonder if you need to change it all up and start fresh. To deconstruct and rebuild. You may have done some of this, only to find that the feelings you were seeking out, did not come with the changes made.

Further and further, you throw the spaghetti at the wall, to see what has stuck. To this point, this has brought you many wins. But you know that what got you here won’t get you to where you are going.

Dialing in deliberateness, intentionality, and remaining balanced is critical now. Which leaves you wondering, ‘okay, what now?’

You know something is out of balance/off and incongruent, but what? While this varies to a degree with everyone, there are few areas where we find our congruence.

Let’s talk about the main one today.

Our own internal congruence.

That experience of everything feeling on track and aligned for you. Inside. This does not mean easy. It means that you are not spending your time worrying about the small stuff.

It means the experience of flow and creativity that comes, astounds you. You feel like you are coming from your full potential, as you are being more you than you ever have been before.

This is the experience of congruence within. When we experience life from this place, we are present with our internal board. There is harmony between them, and by extension, all of us.

Our internal board consists of our mind, heart, and gut. This board can be extended to include a voice of wisdom, and intuition not associated with the others.

Human Design shows how unique our individual intelligence can be. As does HeartMath.

As mentioned — the office you sit in every day may be crisp and clean. But the place you come from, your internal board, may feel like it’s in the middle of a war.

Check in with yourself, and allow yourself to be honest with you. There’s no need to minimize, exaggerate or hide. Simply check-in. What does it feel like to be in your mind? What does it feel like to be in your body? Where is there tension? What is lingering by way of doubts?

Put down the phone. Stop talking.Get quiet.

And listen to yourself.

Ask yourself these questions and then listen…

Are you able to discern the difference between intelligences within you?

Are you able to discern which you are listening to at a given moment?

Are you able to discern what harmony between them feels like?

Most important, are you able to converse with these aspects of yourself to come back into harmony?

If this is new to you — start by considering where you receive your answers from currently.

Begin to personify each of the different types of voices/energies you hear, when you slow down. Take it a step further and look at what beliefs, impulses, feelings, and/or desires they tend to align with.

What do you notice?

If you are further along in connecting with your internal board, find the disharmony amongst them. Hold a board meeting, where each member has a chance to speak, be heard, and seen. Help this all the way through inquiry, discovery, brainstorming, and planning.

You will have a good idea what it feels like when all members are on board with each other. When we make our internal board the first place to acknowledge and be with tension and gaps, we open the door to new possibilities.

When are are aligned inside, making decisions about what to do in the world becomes the easier part.

Keep turning back to your board again and again. As you do this, the second image I shared above will become how you experience the life inside you, as well as around you.

Reach out if I can be of support to you.
